How to Stop Overthinking

WITH GEN CHOKYI

Thursdays 6:00 - 7:15pm | $12 drop-in | Free for members

It happens to all of us: we think about something too much, and it creates worry or stress. But some of us can’t let go of these concerns. We worry about the future or ruminate over the past, we get trapped into what others might think of us or agonize over a tough decision.

The good news is that overthinking is a mental habit, and like all habits, it can be broken. There are patterns to our thinking; and just as they’ve been learned, they can be unlearned.

If you’re a chronic overthinker or sometimes just can’t sleep because your mind won’t switch off – this Thursday night series is for you. Using Buddhist teachings on the mind, you’ll learn how to remain balanced, calm and clear, even in our busy world with all its stress and stimulation.

Jan 2 — Harnessing our Mind with Mantra
Jan 9 — Overthinking: Can You Really Stop It?
Jan 16 — The Power of Intention
Jan 23 — Navigating Harmful Feelings
Jan 30 — Focusing Appropriately

This class will be using the book How to Understand the Mind by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche which is available to purchase at the Center Bookstore.
